There's plenty to do in and around Ireland's capital city.

Like many capital cities, Dublin has its fair share of tourist magnets, with Temple Bar, Trinity College, and the Guinness Storehouse being among the most famous. Although often busy, they're that way for a reason and certainly worth a visit if time allows.

A day in the Park

Tip up to The Phoenix Park where you can see the Deer & wave to the President.
It might be handy to go there with a bike because the park is huge!
The Luas tram also goes close by if biking ain’t your thing.

Day trips and some trail walking

  • Howth Head trail - Travel by DART to Howth. Nice pier walk there too. There's a nice café near the pier called "Panorama". Also the "Dog House" tea rooms is kinda funky.
  • Bray Head walk - Travel by DART to Bray. Nice hike up to the top of the hill. Great views!
  • Bray to Greystones cliff walk - Travel by DART to Bray. Lovely views along the journey. Trail walk to Greystones & DART back to the city. It can also be done the other way, Greystones to Bray. If in Greystones, the "Happy Pear" is a nice café there.
  • Travelling on the DART to Bray is actually really nice thing to do in itself, along the coastal cliffs & tunnels

  • Grogans on South William Street (My favourite on a sunny day to sit outside with a pint of Guinness)
  • Keohes on South Anne Street - Great "sung" on the left just inside the door
  • Nearys on Chatham Street

Fancier bar for cocktails

  • Peruke & Periwig on Dawson Street
  • The horseshoe bar in the Shelbourne hotel

Bars with Traditional Music

It can sometimes be tricky to find traditional music in bars in Dublin city, however these places might have something

  • Lots of places in Temple Bar will do music all the time, especially the "Temple Bar" pub. Very touristic though!
  • The Cobbblestone on Smithfield Square - authentic
  • O'Donoghues on Baggot Street - great pub

Cafés and Restaurants

This one comes with a bit of a qualification as it’s been a long time since I was frequenting restaurants in Dublin & many may have changed/closed/newly opened since Covid period.

  • Dawson street is usually good for nice restaurants
  • Drury Street & Fade Street also have some good options
  • George's Street should have plenty of options too, often at a better price-point
  • South William Street is hip & interesting
  • Bewleys Café on Grafton for an indulgent treat in old-world surroundings
